As 2025 nears its end, we review the key tech launches from the penultimate week of the year. Xiaomi officially launched its entire Redmi Note 15 series globally. Meanwhile, OnePlus unveiled the 15R with full specifications, featuring a massive 7,400mAh battery (albeit smaller than the Ace 6T's 8,300mAh powerhouse) and 80W fast charging support. It sports a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 165Hz variable refresh rate. Under the hood, the device runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and offers either 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. Available in Charcoal Black and Mint Breeze, pricing starts at $699/€699/£649 for the 12/256GB variant.
A recent report has raised concerns about a memory chip shortage, which might lead to a resurgence of 4GB RAM smartphones and the disappearance of 16GB RAM flagships. This shortage is expected to drive up prices for midrange Samsung phones in India. Whether this forecast proves accurate remains to be seen.
Honor revealed details about its upcoming Win and Win RT smartphones, set to launch on December 26. Both models will feature an integrated cooling fan, with the premium Win equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC and a 6.8-inch LTPS AMOLED display supporting a 165Hz refresh rate. The Win RT is expected to house the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. One or both models could include an enormous 10,000mAh battery.
