The Huawei Mate X7 is among the most visually appealing foldables this year. Its subtly curved edges, while slightly impacting ease of opening and closing compared to flat-sided designs like the Galaxy Z Fold7, lend it a sophisticated and refined appearance.

Although the Samsung device is slimmer and lighter, the Mate X7 compensates with a 30% larger battery and significantly faster charging speeds.

The cover screen has increased to 6.49 inches diagonally—slightly larger and brighter than the previous Mate X6, with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. It is protected by Huawei’s proprietary Kunlun Glass 2.

Inside, the main display now measures 8 inches, a modest increase from the Mate X6’s 7.93-inch panel. The display offers excellent quality, with nearly no visible creasing, supported by a robust hinge design known for its strength and durability.

The main 24mm camera remains largely unchanged, featuring the variable aperture f/1.4-f/4.0 lens. The 40MP ultrawide and dual 8MP front-facing cameras also carry over.

However, the periscope zoom camera is new—equipped with a 50MP sensor paired with an 81mm f/2.2 (3.5x) lens. This is an upgrade over the previous 90mm f/3.0 unit and promises improved low-light and zoom performance, which we will evaluate in our full review.

Further improvements over the Mate X6 include a larger battery—5,600mAh, up by 400mAh—resulting in enhanced endurance.

The device runs on the 6nm Kirin 9030 chipset, an upgrade from the 7nm Kirin 9020. This new SoC features a 9-core CPU with higher clock speeds and a more powerful GPU. We look forward to benchmarking its real-world performance against its predecessor.

All these advancements and more will be covered in our comprehensive review—stay tuned!
