Following the recent launch of GPT-5.2, OpenAI has introduced an enhanced version of ChatGPT Images that generates images four times faster. This update positions ChatGPT Images as a strong competitor to Google's Nano Banana Pro, just as GPT-5.2 directly responds to Gemini 3 Pro.
According to OpenAI's press release, ChatGPT Images now better aligns with user intent, especially during edits, by making precise changes only where requested while preserving all other aspects across inputs, outputs, and subsequent modifications.
This improvement enables outputs that truly reflect user intent, effectively transforming ChatGPT Images into a "creative studio in your pocket" capable of both functional edits and imaginative reinterpretations. The updated model excels at adding, removing, blending, and rearranging elements without compromising the unique qualities of the image.
The new ChatGPT Images feature also includes preset styles and concepts that users can select without typing prompts. Enhanced instruction adherence allows for more accurate edits and complex original designs where spatial and relational elements remain consistent. Additionally, text rendering and the depiction of small faces have been notably improved.
The updated ChatGPT Images is currently being rolled out to all users worldwide.
