vivo has officially unveiled the vivo S50 and S50 Pro mini in China as its latest midrange smartphones, offering refreshed designs and notable hardware improvements.
vivo S50 and S50 Pro mini Overview
The vivo S50 sports a slightly smaller 6.59-inch display than its predecessor, powered by the new Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. Meanwhile, the S50 Pro mini retains its compact 6.31-inch screen but upgrades to the recently launched Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC.
Both models feature AMOLED FHD+ panels with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, a 50MP front-facing camera, and an updated ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.
Display and Security Features
They are both IP68 and IP69 rated for water and dust resistance and house large 6,500mAh Si/C batteries supporting 90W wired fast charging. Additionally, the S50 Pro mini supports 40W wireless charging for added convenience.
The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 in the S50 offers a significant performance boost over the S30’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, while the S50 Pro mini’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 enhances performance compared to the S30 Pro mini’s Dimensity 9300+. Both phones can be configured with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.1 storage.
Camera systems on both devices include a triple-lens setup: a 50MP main sensor (Sony IMX921), a 50MP telephoto lens (Sony IMX882) with 3x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultrawide lens. They run OriginOS 6 based on Android 16 out of the box.

The vivo S50 is available in white, blue, purple, and black with prices starting at CNY 2,999 (around $425) for the 12GB/256GB model and reaching CNY 3,599 ($510) for the 16GB/512GB configuration.

The vivo S50 Pro mini comes in white, purple, and black. It starts at CNY 3,699 (approximately $524) for the 12GB/256GB variant and climbs to CNY 4,299 ($609) for the 16GB/512GB model.
Pre-orders are available now on vivo’s official store, with shipping expected to begin on Friday, December 19.
