vivo has officially unveiled the S50 and S50 Pro Mini in China, introducing refreshed designs and significant upgrades to their midrange lineup. Both models feature a blend of powerful chipsets, vibrant AMOLED screens, and improved camera systems.
vivo S50 and S50 Pro Mini Overview
The vivo S50 sports a slightly more compact 6.59-inch display compared to its predecessor, paired with the new Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor. Meanwhile, the S50 Pro Mini maintains its compact 6.31-inch screen but is upgraded with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset.
Both smartphones come equipped with FHD+ AMOLED displays supporting a 120Hz refresh rate, enhanced with 50MP front cameras and updated ultrasonic fingerprint sensors for secure unlocking.

Designed to withstand the elements, both phones carry IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance. They are powered by substantial 6,500mAh silicon-carbon batteries with rapid 90W wired charging support. Additionally, the S50 Pro Mini offers 40W wireless charging capabilities.
The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 in the S50 represents a notable upgrade from the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 found in the previous S30 model. The S50 Pro Mini's Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset also outperforms the Dimensity 9300+ used in its predecessor. Both models can be configured with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage.
Camera setups on both devices include a triple-lens configuration: a 50MP primary sensor (Sony IMX921), a 50MP telephoto lens (Sony IMX882) offering 3x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultrawide sensor. They run OriginOS 6 on top of Android 16 right out of the box.

The vivo S50 is available in white, blue, purple, and black shades. Pricing starts at CNY 2,999 (approximately $425) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model, going up to CNY 3,599 ($510) for the 16GB/512GB variant.

The S50 Pro Mini comes in white, purple, and black with a starting price of CNY 3,699 ($524) for 12GB/256GB and tops out at CNY 4,299 ($609) for the 16GB/512GB version.
Both models are now open for pre-order on vivo’s official website, with shipments expected to begin on Friday, December 19.
