As foldable phones grow in popularity, users expect third-party and system apps to optimize for this unique form factor. Responding to this demand, Google has enhanced the camera experience on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold by introducing a feature originally found on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

The new functionality enables users to preview their photos on the left half of the screen while keeping the camera viewfinder active on the right. This split-view layout significantly improves usability, allowing for seamless review without leaving the camera interface. It's surprising it took Google so long to implement this given that similar features have been standard on other foldable phones for some time.
A dedicated button appears beneath the shutter, offering quick access to this split preview mode. Additionally, users can view all their pictures—not just those from the current session—through a shortcut that links directly to Google Photos.
