Google has upgraded Google Translate by integrating its advanced Gemini AI to enhance translation accuracy, particularly for idioms, slang, and nuanced phrases.

This cutting-edge translation technology is now available within Google Search and the Google Translate app on iOS and Android. The update is initially launching in the US and India, supporting translation between English and nearly 20 languages, including Spanish, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese, and German.

A new beta feature offers real-time audio translations through headphones, preserving each speaker's tone, emphasis, and cadence to deliver more natural conversations. Users simply need to wear their headphones, open the Translate app, and activate the Live Translate function.

This beta is available now on Android in the US, Mexico, and India, supporting over 70 languages. It will expand to additional regions and launch on iOS in 2026.

Additionally, Google Translate's language learning tools now provide enhanced feedback with personalized tips based on your speaking practice. Users can also monitor their progress through streak-tracking to stay motivated.
