The highly anticipated foldable iPhone is becoming a reality, thrilling Apple enthusiasts who have eagerly awaited such a device for years. Recent leaks have revealed key details that bring us closer to understanding what Apple has in store with its first foldable phone.
Unlocking the Foldable iPhone

According to leaks from translated sources, Apple will forego Face ID on the foldable iPhone. Instead, it will incorporate Touch ID via a fingerprint sensor embedded in a side-mounted button. This approach excludes both Face ID and the traditional ultrasonic fingerprint sensors, opting for a more streamlined unlocking mechanism.
Display Size and Design

The foldable iPhone will have a main display measuring approximately 7.58 inches, nearly matching the Galaxy Z Fold 6’s 7.6-inch display. Its external screen will be around 5.25 inches. Notably, Apple plans to offer a wider form factor than Samsung’s current foldables, presenting a more expansive horizontal dimension. Meanwhile, Chinese manufacturers are reportedly aiming to beat both Apple and Samsung to market with similarly wide foldable designs.

Current voting results show that 63.04% want a different form factor, 15.22% are indifferent, and 21.74% feel foldables are already too bulky. There have been 46 votes so far.
Camera Technology and Features

Unlike previous Galaxy foldables that featured an under-display camera, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 ditched this tech for a punch-hole design. Apple, however, will embrace an under-display camera on the foldable iPhone’s main screen. This model will align with the launch of the iPhone 18 series, which is expected to move Face ID sensors beneath the display. Furthermore, the iPhone 20 Pro is rumored to take this a step further by concealing the main camera under the screen to create a truly uninterrupted display.
The foldable iPhone will not include a punch-hole camera on its main display — though the external display may feature a punch hole. For photography, the device is expected to sport a dual 48 MP rear camera setup, promising strong imaging capabilities.
Addressing the Display Crease

While Apple’s foldable iPhone is said to debut with the most advanced hinge available, it will not completely eliminate the crease on the main display. However, the crease will be minimal — potentially less visible than on Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is nearly invisible during normal use. This suggests the foldable iPhone will offer one of the smoothest foldable displays in the industry.
With mass production approaching, these specifications give us a clear look at what Apple’s foldable smartphone might bring to the market.
