vivo has officially launched the vivo S50 and S50 Pro mini in China, introducing refreshed designs and notable upgrades to its midrange smartphone lineup.
vivo S50 and S50 Pro mini Overview
The vivo S50 features a slightly smaller 6.59-inch screen than its predecessor and is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. The S50 Pro mini keeps its compact 6.31-inch display but upgrades to the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC for enhanced performance.
Both models sport AMOLED displays with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. They also incorporate 50MP front cameras and an improved ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for secure and responsive unlocking.
Display and Durability Features
Both devices are rated IP68 and IP69 for water and dust resistance, ensuring durability in various conditions. They house a robust 6,500mAh silicon-carbon (Si/C) battery with 90W wired fast charging support. Additionally, the S50 Pro mini offers 40W wireless charging capabilities.
The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset in the S50 delivers a significant performance boost over the prior model's Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip. Meanwhile, the S50 Pro mini’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 offers superior performance compared to the Dimensity 9300+ found in the earlier S30 Pro mini. Both phones can be configured with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage.
Camera and Software
The vivo S50 and S50 Pro mini share a similar triple-camera setup, including a 50MP main sensor (Sony IMX921), a 50MP telephoto lens (Sony IMX882) with 3x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultrawide camera. Both devices run OriginOS 6 based on the latest Android 16 out of the box.
Color Options and Pricing
The vivo S50 is available in white, blue, purple, and black. Pricing starts at CNY 2,999 ($425) for the 12GB/256GB model and goes up to CNY 3,599 ($510) for the 16GB/512GB variant.
The S50 Pro mini comes in white, purple, and black with prices starting at CNY 3,699 ($524) for the 12GB/256GB version and reaching CNY 4,299 ($609) for the 16GB/512GB version.
Both smartphones are open for pre-order on vivo’s official website, with deliveries scheduled to begin on Friday, December 19.
