Huawei Pura X2 Expected to Launch in Early 2026

Huawei is reportedly working on a successor to its intriguing foldable phone, the Pura X. According to Chinese tipster Smart Pikachu, the Pura X2 is already undergoing testing and is expected to hit the market in the first quarter of 2026. Early indications suggest the new model will sport a larger display compared to its predecessor.

Unlike the Galaxy Z Flip 7, which unfolds vertically and has an ultra-narrow 22:9 internal display, the Huawei Pura X opens horizontally, offering a more traditional 6.3-inch screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio. This design has been highly praised, with many calling it “the coolest flip phone of the year.”

Will You Choose a Horizontal or Vertical Fold?

Current Poll Results:

  • A horizontal flip foldable, like the Pura X - 55.61%
  • A vertical flip foldable, like the Galaxy Z Flip 7 - 6.28%
  • A book-style foldable, like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 - 31.39%
  • I don’t want any foldable - 6.73%

Despite its appeal, Huawei has yet to release the Pura X internationally, and it appears the upcoming Pura X2 will also remain exclusive to the Chinese market, limiting accessibility for global fans.

Foldable smartphones continue to evolve, but flip-style devices have seen relatively few breakthroughs recently. With Huawei bringing back its horizontal flip design and scaling up the display, it could spark fresh interest in alternative fold styles beyond the common vertical flips dominating the market today.
