Galaxy S25 Edge and the iPhone Air have both experienced disappointing sales, leading other manufacturers to rethink their plans for similar devices.
Chinese manufacturers quick to follow suit
After the release of the Galaxy S25 Edge, Chinese companies started teasing their own versions of slim phones with curved displays. For instance, the Tecno Slim claimed the title of the world's thinnest phone with a curved screen. A Chinese phone maker has now halted the production of its slim phone, scheduled for launch next year, due to the poor sales of the iPhone Air.
The lackluster sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge have led Samsung to cancel the upcoming Galaxy S26 Edge. It seems that the underperformance of the first-generation device has prompted Samsung to abandon the project.
Will Apple persevere with the Air?
Despite its struggles with silicon batteries, the iPhone Air is expected to remain in production for a few more iterations. While other companies await Apple's next move, it is crucial for the industry to continue innovating slim phones and XR (Extended Reality) headsets, even if products like the Apple Vision Pro face challenges in the market.
