Apple is reportedly in development of a successor to the iPhone SE, tentatively referred to as the iPhone SE 4 or the iPhone 16E. This upcoming device promises a significant upgrade over its predecessor, showcasing a genuine interest from users despite some of its anticipated drawbacks. The existing iPhone SE is quickly becoming obsolete, struggling to meet the demands of modern users with its dated specs and dwindling stock. In contrast, the new iPhone SE 4 is expected to feature a design akin to the iPhone 14, boasting an edge-to-edge display and a notch, as it moves away from the traditional physical home button.Apple Intelligence is also set to play a pivotal role in the new model, although it’s still in its developmental phase. Once the SE 4 hits the market, all existing iPhones will be compatible with its features. Furthermore, the device is rumored to utilize Apple's custom cellular modem, a move aimed at reducing dependency on Qualcomm. If successful, this could pave the way for future iPhone models, such as the iPhone 17, to adopt this technology as well.

Despite maintaining a single-camera system—the trend among budget smartphones is leaning towards multiple lenses—the iPhone SE 4 is predicted to have a higher price point than its predecessor. While some users are comparing its value to that of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, others argue that the iPhone SE 4 might offer a superior deal compared to the iPhone 16. Although it may lack top-tier specifications or a large display, the iPhone SE 4 is poised to emerge as one of the top smartphones of 2025.
